Julie's Little People evolved from drawings I did in high school maths class of animated people with large eyes. Unbeknown to me at the time - these drawings would eventually help me design and create my Little People.
You would laugh if you saw the first Little People I ever made. It was about 10 years ago, when one of my best friends gave birth to her first child. I was living in New Zealand at the time and wanted to give her something personalised, something that would last, and something that would make her laugh - and also something that I knew she would not already have. Even though they weren't my best creations - I am proud to say she still has them. Over time, and a lot of trial & error, they evolved into what you see today - a unique keepsake softie, with a larger than life personality.
Each Little Person has been carefully designed and made using a range of local and international vintage, recycled and new fabrics. The fabrics are all hand cut, felt faces hand sewn, crystal eyes attached and resilient crest-a-lon stuffing inserted. Their individual names and personalities are a creation of my imagination, with ideas stemming from people I've met, books I've read, places I've been and things I've seen.
Due to the process in which these are made you may find small imperfections, but I think this just gives them even more character! A Little Person is the perfect gift for both children and adults alike. Their names and personalities give them a distinctive identity, whilst also being the perfect companion for cuddling, sharing stories and whispering secrets.
